Tenglong Cave is a cave located 6.8km (04.2miles) from Lichuan City, Hubei, China.[1] It is believed to be the longest monomer karst cave system in the world. The cave entrance is 74m (243feet) and 64m (210feet) wide, leading to 59.8km (37.2miles) of passageways.[2] An underground network of streams runs for 16.8km (10.4miles) whilst the cave is the source of the Qingjiang River. Year round temperatures underground remain in the 16 - 18 degrees Celsius range.
To facilitate tourist access to the cave, as well as to the so-called Enshi Grand Canyon Scenic Area (Chinese: 恩施大峡谷景区), the prefectural authorities are considering plans for the construction of a tourist railway, which will link these two popular tourist attractions with a station on the Yichang−Wanzhou Railway (probably, Lichuan).[3]
