Temi Popoola CFA (born June 17, 1980) is a Nigerian financial services executive currently serving as the CEO of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, a subsidiary of The Nigerian Exchange Group.[1] [2]
Born in 1980, Popoola bolds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos in 2002.[3] He earned a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2006, where he was twice awarded the MIT Rozeau Fellowship.[4]
Popoola began his career in London in 2002. Later in 2006, he worked at Bank of America Securities in New York, where he gained experience as a trader in Equity Derivatives. In 2009, he joined United Bank for Africa PLC as the Head of Structured Products and Investments.[5]
Popoola as the Director of Sales & Sales Trading at CSL Stockbrokers in Lagos, Nigeria from 2010 to 2015.[3] He joined Renaissance Capital in 2015 and rose to the position of CEO for Nigeria & West Africa.[6]
In 2021, The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) was demutualized leading to the emergence of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) Plc and three subsidiaries namely; Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, NGX Regulation (NGX RegCo) Limited, and NGX Real Estate (NGX RelCo) Limited.[7] [8] Temi Popoola was subsequently appointed the CEO of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited.[9] [10] [11] [12]
Popoola currently serves as an elected executive committee and board member of the African Securities Exchanges Association[13] and a member of the African Financial Industry Summit.[4] He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS).[14]
