Tashsu (Tatar: Ташсу|translit=Taşsu; Russian: Ташсу) is a rural locality (a village) in Vysokogorsky District, Tatarstan, Russia. The population was 101 as of 2010.[1] Tashsu is located northwest of Vysokaya Gora, the district's administrative centre, and north of Kazan, the republic's capital, by road.[1] [2]
The earliest known record of the settlement dates from the 17th century. Its name derived from words taş (stone) and su (water).[3] It forms part of the district since 1965.
There are three streets in the village.[4]
The village is the birthplace of Sadri Maqsudi, a politician, and his brother, a linguist and journalist.[1]
