Tarris Reed Jr. (born August 5, 2003) is an American college basketball power forward for the UConn Huskies. He previously played for the Michigan Wolverines.

Early life and high school

During his sophomore season, Reed averaged 14.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game.[1] In Reed's senior season he averaged 21.8 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 2.6 blocks per game and 1.4 assists per game.[2] For his performance during his senior season, Reed was named the 2021 Post-Dispatch All-Metro boys basketball player of the year.[3] Coming out of high school Reed was rated as a four star recruit, the 13th ranked center, and the 69th overall player in the class of 2021.[4] Reed also held offers from school such as Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Florida, Illinois, Indiana and Kansas.[5] Reed ultimately decided to commit to play college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines.[6] [7]

College career

Reed enrolled at the University of Michigan in 2022. As a sophomore, Reed scored 19 points, six rebounds and blocked three shots in a win over Iowa on December 10, 2023.[8] On January 4, 2024, Reed recorded his first career double-double versus Minnesota, scoring 14 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.[9] On January 18, Reed posted a career high 20 points against Illinois.[10] During the 2023–24 season, Reed played in 32 games with 31 starts, averaging nine points per game, a team-high 7.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, while shooting 52% from the field.[11] After the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, Reed entered the NCAA transfer portal.[12] [13]

Reed transferred to UConn in the spring of 2024.
