Targavar Rural District (Persian: دهستان ترگور) is in Silvaneh District of Urmia County, West Azerbaijan province, Iran.[2] Its capital is the village of Mavana.[3]

History

The district was home to a significant Assyrian population before the Assyrian genocide, but is mostly populated by Herki Kurds today.[4] [5] [6]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the rural district's population was 7,893 in 1,344 households.[7] There were 7,765 inhabitants in 1,603 households at the following census of 2011.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 8,381 in 1,862 households. The most populous of its 39 villages was Mavana, with 1,314 people.[9]
