The name TYR is a reference to the Norse god Týr.[3]
TYR sponsors many professional athletes; it dubs them Team TYR,[4] as well as the national swimming teams in the US[5] and in Singapore.[6] In 2018, TYR bought title rights to USA Swimming's domestic circuit, the Pro Swim Series.[7] In seasons 8 to 11 of Baywatch, TYR logo appeared on each female lifeguard's bathing suits.
