T.H. Express was a eurodance group created in Italy in 1994 by the record label Ramdam Factory, with the help of producers Fabio Serra and Mauro Farina. The group was led by Fauve (Isabelle) and Ramses (Djanis Mitchell) as the promotional faces of the project.[1]
The group's first single "Runaway Train" was released in 1994 with moderate success, but it was the release of the follow-up single "I'm On Your Side" that made them achieve fame and success, and this became the first single from their debut album. Soon after, other hits arrived in the following year, such as "Missing In The Rain" and "Love 4 Liberty". "Runaway Train" was not included on the album and it is not known who did the vocals on this single as it was released shortly before the group's original lineup emerged.
In 1996, the first album "Love 4 Liberty" was released, which was named after the last single released. Despite the success, the group was short-lived and after several months of promoting the album, they disbanded, with Ramses leaving the project shortly before Fauve. However, Fauve remained in the group for a further time as a soloist, with the single "I'll Be Your Number One" being released shortly after Ramses' departure in late 1996. In 1997 the single "Bahia" was released, but without much success. Soon after this latest release, Fauve also ended up completely disconnecting from the project.[2]
Although Fauve and Ramses were the faces associated to the group during this period, they were not the actual vocalists of their biggest hits or the rest of the album's songs. Both had been hired by the production team only to promote the songs and lip-sync in concerts and music videos, which was a fairly common practice in several Eurodance projects. The voices heard on the "Love 4 Liberty" album actually belonged to Jackie Bodimead who took over the female vocals and Daniel Sous who did the raps, with the exception of the album's first single "I'm On Your Side" which featured other vocalists. The vocals on "I'm On Your Side" were provided by Annerley Gordon who also contributed to its composition, but the name of the singer who was in charge of rapping on this song is still unknown.[3] [4] [5] [6]
The song "Crazy 4 Love" from this same album is the only one that Fauve did some vocal contributions, only in the French-spoken parts. The singing part of the song was all done by Jackie Bodimead, as well as the rest of the album."I'll Be Your Number One" was the follow-up single to the release of the debut album, being the last one to feature vocals from Jackie Bodimead and this one did not feature rapping.[7] The vocals on the single "Bahia" and the following ones were provided by other studio vocalists that are unknown to date.
Since 1998, following the departure of Fauve and Ramses, several singles under the name T.H. Express have been released over the years but without any faces integrating the project. In 1998, some remixes of the singles "I'm On Your Side" and "Bahia" were released and in 1999 a new single called "Angel Of Love" was released. After a long hiatus, they returned to activities in 2008 and they keep releasing several singles, mainly covers from popular tracks. In 2020 the compilation "Best Of Express" was released which featured several of the project's singles in different versions and remixes.[8]
