[1] was a noted Japanese lichenologist and 1994 recipient of the Acharius Medal.[2] He studied under Mason Hale[3] and Yasuhiko Asahina.[1] Between 1966 and 1987 he edited the exsiccata Lichenes rariores et critici exsiccati, starting with 1978 together with H. Kashiwadani.[4]
