Surando Explained
Surando is an ancient traditional Sindhi musical instrument.[1] [2] It is played by many Sindhi musicians in Sindh, Kutch, Rajasthan and Balochistan.[3] [4] [5] The word Surando is derived from Persian word "Surayindah" which means the producer of tunes.
In the story of Sorath Rai Diyach
one of the Sindhi folktale of Sindh written by Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is Sorath Rai Diyach, in which the Bijal a charan played Surando and the Rai Diyach the king was so impressed by the music of Surando, when the Bijal asked for his head, he gave his head in alter of Surando music.[6]
