Stop is a 2015 South Korean-Japanese co-production directed by Kim Ki-duk that had its premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.[1] [2] The film is set in Japan and addresses the aftermath of Fukushima-Daichi disaster; the cast of the film is mostly Japanese.[3]

Plot

A young married couple are exposed to radiation during a meltdown at Japan's Fukushima nuclear reactor. The young woman is pregnant and she and her husband must decide whether or not to keep the baby. Their assumption that the child will be disabled is certainly realistic, and they both gradually succumb to madness.[4] [5] [2] [6] [7]

Reception

A review in Variety was very negative.[8] Another review found it regrettable that the crude style of the director was explored only to make a pastiche, given the importance of the topic. [9]
