Stephen Chan (Chinese: 陳學理) is an American politician and former New York City Police Department sergeant who is a member-elect of the New York State Senate for the 17th district, which comprises part of South Brooklyn. A Republican, he defeated Democratic incumbent Iwen Chu in 2024.[1] [2]

Chan is the first Asian American Republican elected into the New York State Senate. In doing so, he broke up the Democrat super-majority in the New York State Senate.
