Stephanie S. Tolan (born 1942 in Ohio) is an American author of children's books. Her book Surviving the Applewhites received a Newbery Honor in 2003.[1] She obtained a master's degree in English at Purdue University. Tolan is a senior fellow at the Institute for Educational Advancement. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband.[2] [3] Her papers are kept at the University of Central Missouri.
