Stefan Gieren is a German film producer and writer. On 24 January 2012 he was nominated for an Academy Award for the film Raju. His nomination was shared with Max Zähle.[1] [2] He received a Student Academy Award twice - in 2011 for the film Raju[3] and in 2016 for the film Ayny.[4] In 2019 he received the German Film Award (Lola) in Gold for his film Fortschritt im Tal der Ahnungslosen.[5]

He co-founded a network of educational TV stations in Afghanistan.[6]
