History

William Francis Ganong identified the Mi'kmaq name for Squaw Cap as Mi'kmaq; Micmac: Peedamkee'jos.[2]

The community will be renamed Evergreen in January 2024, with the nearby mountain of the same name returning to the original name of Mi'kmaq; Micmac: Meto'mqwijuig Mountain.[3]
