South Tuxedo is an affluent residential neighbourhood within Tuxedo, Winnipeg. It is bordered by Grant Avenue to the north, Route 90 to the east, the CN rail lines to the south and Shaftesbury avenue to the west.

South Tuxedo is part of the Assiniboine South Neighbourhood Cluster. It is part of the city ward of Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood, the provincial electoral district of Tuxedo and the federal electoral district of Winnipeg South Centre.

Etymology

South Tuxedo was named after Tuxedo Park, a village in Orange County, New York.[1]

Demographics

South Tuxedo is predominantly white, affluent and anglophone. According to the 2016 Census, the neighbourhood is 89.7% Anglophone.[2] The neighbourhood is majority white, with the largest non-white ethnic groups being South Asian (3.6%) followed by Chinese (2.5%) and Indigenous or Metis (2.5%)

The average income of the neighbourhood is $107,549, two and a half times higher than the city average of $44,915.
