Formed in 1992, Sorry About Your Daughter's sound is a dynamic blend of alternative rock and post-hardcore, characterized by raw energy, intricate guitar work, and emotionally charged vocals.[2] They drew significant inspiration from Washington, D.C.'s vibrant music scene, particularly citing Jawbox and Shudder to Think as significant influences. Despite their clear stylistic ties to the post-hardcore movement, the band was often labeled as "grunge" by critics, likely due to its popularity in the mid-1990s.
The band toured heavily on US college campuses in the middle of the decade. They independently released "Aquarium Center" before signing to the European label Edel, affiliated with Sony Music/BMG. They subsequently toured Europe and released their second full-length album, "Face," accompanied by promotional videos for tracks like “You Gave Up” and “Scapegoat," which occasionally appeared on MTV Europe and Much Music. Their music is currently available on platforms like iTunes,[3] Spotify,[4] and Amazon.[5] On August 17, 2019, Sorry About Your Daughter reunited for a show at The Soundry in Columbia, MD.[6]
