Sokoleč is a municipality and village in Nymburk District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,100 inhabitants.
The initial name of the village was Sokolčí. The name was derived from the word sokolník, i.e. 'falconer'.[2]
Sokoleč is located about 11km (07miles) south of Nymburk and 40km (30miles) east of Prague. It lies in a flat landscape of the Central Elbe Table.
The first written mention of Sokoleč is from 1332.[3]
There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality. The village lies entirely within the Velim railway test circuit.
There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[4]
