Publication history

Shimmer first appeared in The New Teen Titans #3 and was created by George Pérez and Marv Wolfman.[1]

Fictional character biography

Selinda and her younger brother Baran (a.k.a. the supervillain Mammoth) are metahumans from Australia. After attacking their bullies, the two were sent to Markovia, where Helga Jace cared for them before they became criminals.

Shimmer is a founding member of the Fearsome Five, led by Doctor Light. She later reforms and moves to a Tibetan monastery before being killed by Psimon.[2] [3] However, Psimon and Doctor Sivana eventually resurrect her and have her join their new Fearsome Five.[4] [5]

In The New 52 reboot, Shimmer is reintroduced as a member of the Fearsome Five and the Secret Society and ally of the Crime Syndicate of America.[6] [7]

Powers and abilities

Shimmer is a metahuman with the ability to transmute any element or compound into any other. The change only lasts for a few minutes and she can only affect materials within a radius of three feet.
