Senaka Batagoda (born 25 June 1958) is a Sri Lankan singer and music composer.[1] He has sung numerous songs in his singing career. He rose to prominence and limelight for his ability to deliver songs with mix of unique blend of folk influences, versatile vocals, and mastery of various genres.

Career

He received his first feature film playback singing opportunity through the film CineMa.

In April 2024, an enjoining order was issued by Colombo Commercial High Court preventing Senaka from singing seven popular Sinhala-language songs including Api Kavuruda, Api Senasille, Alu Yata Gini, Rastha, Heena Walata Panak Thiyenawa, Senasuma and Hodama de.[2] The court proceeded following a complaint filed under the Intellectual Property Act by musician Janath Kulathilake who insisted to restrain Senaka from singing his songs.[3] Janath made such complaint indicating that Senaka had violated his intellectual property right and copyright by not allocating the economic benefits due to him and also sought for a maximum compensation of roughly 100 million from Senaka as a remedy.[4]
