Sean Michael White (born November 10, 1995) is an American football quarterback who formerly played for the Auburn Tigers. White ranks third in Auburn history for career passing efficiency and fourth in completion percentage.[1]

Early life

White attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School in Hollywood, Florida for his first 3 years of high school before transferring to University School of Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for his Senior year. White finished his high school career with over 8,400 yards and 117 total TDs. In the summer of 2013, White won the Elite 11 QB competition MVP with future NFL starters Deshaun Watson, Kyle Allen, DeShone Kizer, and Will Grier in attendance.[2] He earned 1st-Team All-Broward County 3 times, and was MVP of the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game after completing 10/12 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.[3] White was rated a 4-star recruit by Rivals.com and ranked among the top quarterbacks in his class.[4] He committed to Auburn University to play college football.[5] [6]

College career

White redshirted his first year at Auburn in 2014.[7] White began his RS Freshman year in 2015 as backup to Jeremy Johnson, but was named starter after 3 weeks, starting his 1st game vs. Mississippi St.[8] [9] White started 6 games in 2015, and was the 1st Freshman QB in Auburn history to throw for 250 or more yards in 3 straight games; @Kentucky, @Arkansas, Ole Miss. Injuries to knee and foot caused White to miss the final games of the regular season. [10]

In 2016, White battled Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin III for the starting quarterback job. On August 25, 2016, White was named the starting quarterback by head coach Gus Malzahn.[10] White had the #3 completion % in the FBS after 10 weeks, leading an efficient Auburn offense to a 6-game win streak and inside the Top 10 (#9). A separated shoulder hampered White in the following game, and Auburn lost to Georgia in Athens, ending the Tiger’s slim playoff hopes. After missing the Iron Bowl with injury, White returned to play in the Sugar Bowl against Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma, but a broken arm forced White to be replaced in the 2nd quarter. [11] White finished 2016 with 1,679 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and a 63.9 completion percentage.

In 2017, White, injured with from Sugar Bowl for Spring practice, lost the position of starting quarterback to Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham.

On September 18, 2017, White was dismissed from the team following a public intoxication arrest.[12]

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn dismissed White from the team the next day, stating: "He has made poor decisions that are not in the best interest of our program, and more importantly, himself." In February 2018, a municipal court judge in the city of Auburn dismissed the public intoxication charge against White.[13]

Personal life

After leaving Auburn, White was left with several injuries, and despite offers to join P5 programs, chose to finish his finance degree at Florida International University, graduating magna cum laude. White currently lives in Boston, MA. [14]
