Schlans is a former municipality in the district of Surselva in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The municipality of Schlans merged on 1 January 2012 into the municipality of Trun.[1]
Schlans is first mentioned in 765 as Selaunum.
Schlans had an area,, of 8.8km2. Of this area, 43.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 25.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (28.7%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).
The municipality is located in the Disentis sub-district of the Surselva district on the heights above the Vorderrhein valley. It consists of the village of Schlans.
Schlans had a population (as of 2010) of 80., 2.3% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -10%. Most of the population speaks the Sursilvan dialect of Romansh(81.5%), with German being second most common (14.1%) and Spanish being third (3.3%).[2]
