Schizachne Explained

Schizachne is a genus of Eurasian and North American plants in the grass family.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] The only accepted species is Schizachne purpurascens, commonly called false melic.[8] [9] Three subspecies are recognized:

Melica smithii was formerly included in the genus, as Schizachne smithii.
