Sawyer James Robertson (born February 1, 2003) is an American football quarterback for the Baylor Bears. Robertson previously played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Robertson grew up in Lubbock, Texas and attended Coronado High School where he lettered in football and baseball. In his high school career, Robertson completed 877 of his 1,359 pass attempts for 12,148 yards, 146 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. Robertson would also rush for 553 yards and 13 touchdowns.[2] Robertson was rated a four-star recruit and committed to play college football at Mississippi State University over offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, Louisiana, Louisville, Nevada, North Texas, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas State, Tulsa, USC, Washington State and Wisconsin.[3] [4]
Robertson was redshirted during his true freshman season in 2021.[5]
During the 2022 season, he appeared in five games and finished the season with completing six out of 11 passing attempts for 23 yards and an interception.[6]
On January 4, 2023, Robertson announced that he would be entering the transfer portal.[7] On January 11, 2023, he announced that he would be transferring to Baylor.[8]
During the 2023 season, Robertson played in six games and was named as the starting quarterback against Utah after Blake Shapen had suffered an injury.[9] He finished the season with completing 66 out of 117 passing attempts for 864 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions, while also making 35 rushing attempts for 69 yards and a touchdown.[10]
Robertson is the cousin of current Denver Broncos quarterback, Jarrett Stidham.[11]
