Savarinathen Iruthayaraj (July 14, 1927 in Ooty, Tamil Nadu – October 18, 2001) was an Indian cleric and Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Palayamkottai.

Biography

Savarinathen Iruthayaraj was born on 14 July 1927 in Ooty, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

He received the Sacrament of Holy Orders on December 20, 1959.

On May 17, 1973, Pope Paul VI appointed him as Bishop of the newly created Diocese of Palayamkottai.[1] [2] The Archbishop of Madurai, Justin Diraviam, bestowed episcopal ordination on September 12 of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Bangalore, Packiam Arokiaswamy, and the Archbishop of Changanacherry, Antony Padiyara.

On July 15, 1999, Savarinathen Iruthayaraj resigned as Bishop of Palayamkottai.[3]

He died on 18 October 2001.[4]
