The history of Saudi Civil Defense can be traced back to 1953 when the Directorate of Civil Defense was established. It was initially established to provide fire safety services, but over the years, its scope has expanded to include other emergency response services. In 1972, the Directorate of Civil Defense was restructured and reorganized, and it became the General Directorate of Civil Defense.[2]
