Sarah Ahmad (; born 17 November 1986) is a Pakistani politician and Child Rights Activist who is currently a member in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, and Chairperson of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau Punjab.

Political career

Sarah Ahmad took charge as Chairperson of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau, a department under the Government of Punjab on 8 February 2019.[1]

She represented Pakistan at the United Nations conference on violence against children on 19 September 2023 in New York.[2] [3]

She was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on reserved seats for women from Punjab in 2024 Pakistani general election.[4] [5] [6]

Awards

Sarah Ahmad's contributions have been recognized internationally. In 2022, she was given the Global Collaborative Award in Rome, Italy, for her advocacy against child sexual abuse in Pakistan.[7]

In March 2023, Sarah Ahmad was honoured with Pakistan's Woman of Courage Award by Donald Blome, the United States Ambassador to Pakistan.[8]

Her dedication to child protection was further acknowledged when she received the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz from the Government of Pakistan on 23 March 2024, presented by the President of Pakistan.[9] [10]
