Murao was born in New York City in 2000, but grew up in Japan.[1] He attended Tokai University.

Murao won a medal at the 2019 World Judo Championships.[2]

Murao won the gold medal in his event at the 2022 Judo Grand Slam Paris held in Paris, France.

Murao won the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic games.[3]
