Saint Paraskeva church (Ukrainian: Церква Святої Великомучениці Параскеви П'ятниці) is an Orthodox parish church (OCU) in Krohulets of the Vasylkivtsi rural hromada of the Chortkiv Raion of the Ternopil Oblast. The church and the bell tower are architectural monuments of national importance (protection numbers 1578/1, 1578/2).[1]

History

According to the documents of the village archive: "In the village there is a wooden parish church of St. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, the date of construction of which is unknown". In the service book printed in Pochaiv in 1866 and kept in the church, there is an entry written out of an ancient psalter stating that the church of St. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa was built in 1576, but it has not been confirmed.[2]

The 1805 inventory of property and possessions states that the church is "on a stone foundation made of oak wood, under a shingle roof, with a wooden bell tower, in good condition". The historical and memoir collection Chortkivska Okruha reveals that before World War II, the villagers began construction of a new church on the square opposite the old one. The Bolsheviks used it as a store.
