Sahar Zaman is an Indian television news journalist and author known for reporting of issues concerning citizens' rights and security on her daily prime-time shows. She was invited to Beijing as a delegate for the BRICS Media Forum to represent Indian media and journalism.

Zaman's career in journalism began in 2001. Since then she has served as news editor and prime-time anchor for various national news channels, including CNN India, TV Today, Times Network, and Bloomberg TV. Her prime-time debates focus on current affairs, national politics, and social issues, with additional coverage on topics such as unemployment, women's safety, child protection, farmers' plight, elections, and citizens' rights, among others.

Zaman is a regular columnist for the Times of India, The Sunday Guardian, National Herald, and other prominent publications.[1]

She is also the Founder of a Web TV Channel on arts, food, and travel called 'Hunar TV', and the director of a functional art brand 'Chamak Patti'. Additionally, she launched a tribute platform, "Jashn-e-Talat", in honor of her grand-uncle, Talat Mahmood. Her debut book is titled Talat Mahmood: The Definitive Biography.[2] Zaman has also been a TEDx Speaker.[3] [4]

Journalism career

The focus of Sahar Zaman's journalism work has been current affairs and arts. She is best known for her work at Times Network,[5] and has also contributed to CNN India, Bloomberg, Doordarshan, TV Today,[6] OPEN TV, Reuters Asia, Doordarshan News, and Headlines Today in various roles, including writer, news anchor, producer and reporter.

She was invited by Dawn News of Pakistan and Young Asia TV in Sri Lanka to discuss the role of journalism in the Indian subcontinent.[7] [8] She has also discussed her work at TEDx and Lalit Kala Academy.[9]

Other activities

Zaman founded a web television channel called Hunar TV, focused on art, music, food and travel.[10]

She also created a multi-performance platform, "Jashn-e-Talat by Sahar Zaman", in memory of her grand-uncle, film star Talat Mahmood, which includes various types of performances by new and established artists.[11]

Personal life

Zaman is married to artist Dhiraj Singh since 2007. They have a son, Kazuo (born 2011).[12]
