Ryaga Krishnaiah (born 13 September 1954), known as R. Krishnaiah, is current Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha of YSR Congress Party from 2022.[1]

Krishnaiah was elected as MLA representing L.B. Nagar constituency in 2014 from the Telugu Desam Party.[2] He has been an active vocalist for the last 35 years for the rights of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and their standard of living through politics, education, and law in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and against the Central Government of India.[3]

Early life and education

Krishnaiah holds degrees in M.A., LL.M., M.Phil., LL.B., and B.Com. He is the President of the National Backward Classes Welfare Association and has led around 140 unions of OBC employees within Central and State Government Departments. He also serves as the President of the Social Welfare Hostel Union, representing 1.4 million hostel students from Scheduled Castes, Tribes, and OBCs.

He is the editor of BC Garjana, a magazine addressing social issues. Krishnaiah was an MLA from 2014 to 2018 and was nominated as the Chief Minister candidate for Telangana by TDP and BJP in 2014. His past roles include leadership positions in RSS, A.B.V.P., and the AP Social Welfare Hostel Students Union.[4]
