Russell Township is located in Lawrence County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 450 and it contained 223 housing units.[2] The township includes the village of Russellville on the Wabash River.

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of, of which (or 98.98%) is land and (or 1.02%) is water.[2]
