The Rural Municipality of Nipawin No. 487 (2016 population:) is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Census Division No. 14 and Division No. 4.

History

The RM of Nipawin No. 487 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 9, 1912.[3]

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the RM of Nipawin No. 487 had a population of living in of its total private dwellings, a change of from its 2016 population of . With a land area of 879.63km2, it had a population density of in 2021.[4]

Accommodations at the park include a campground that has over 180 serviced campsites with showers and washrooms, houseboats, and cabins. There is also a chalet that can be rented for events. Other amenities at the park include a beach, picnic area, petting zoo, kids' playground, mini golf, boat rentals, boat launches, baseball diamonds, horseshoe pits, hiking trails, and volleyball nets. In the winter, there are many kilometres of groomed cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails.[8] [9]

The RM of Nipawin No. 487 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the second Tuesday of every month.[1] The reeve of the RM is Dona Hoppe while its administrator is Nathalie Hipkins.[1] The RM's office is located in Codette.[1]

The RM is home to the Nipawin Hydroelectric Station.
