Romain Arneodo (born 4 August 1992) is a French-born Monegasque professional tennis player who specializes in doubles.[1] From 2008 to 2013, Arneodo represented France in international competition, but has since represented Monaco.Arneodo has been ranked by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) as high as world No. 50 in doubles, which he achieved in August 2023. He also has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 455, attained in August 2014. Since turning professional, Arneodo has won one ATP doubles title (2019 Los Cabos Open) as well as twelve doubles titles on the ATP Challenger Tour and one singles and 20 doubles titles on the ITF Men's World Tennis Tour.
Arneodo made his ATP main draw debut at the 2014 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters in the doubles tournament with partner Benjamin Balleret. The pair entered the main draw with a wild card and reached the quarterfinals after defeating the pairs of Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecău and Roberto Bautista Agut and Andreas Seppi in three sets before bowing out to fifth seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić 4–6, 3–6 in straight sets. Three years later, in 2017, Arneodo went one step further in Monte Carlo with partner Hugo Nys by reaching the semifinals after defeating the pairs of Pablo Carreño Busta and Guillermo García López, eighth seeds Rojer and Tecău, and third seeds Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares,[2] before they succumbed to eventual champions Rohan Bopanna and Pablo Cuevas.
In 2019, at the Los Cabos Open, Arneodo teamed up with Nys and they defeated Dominic Inglot and Austin Krajicek in the final to win each their own maiden ATP doubles title together; the duo won all four matches en route to the title in three sets.[3]
Six years after reaching his first ATP Masters 1000 doubles semifinal in 2017, Arneodo became the first Monegasque player to contend for the Monte-Carlo Masters doubles title in the tournament's history by reaching the 2023 final. With partner Sam Weissborn, they defeated Marcelo Melo and Alexander Zverev before they upset defending champions and second seeds Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury,[4] sixth seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliövaara,[5] and Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz to enter into their maiden Masters doubles final. There, they lost to Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek, though their results earned Arneodo his top 55 debut on 24 April 2023.
