Robert Alan McIntosh (born February 3, 1943) was a major general in the United States Air Force who served as Commander of the United States Air Force Reserve Command, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington D.C., and commander, Headquarters Air Force Reserve, a separate operating agency located at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. As chief of Air Force Reserve, he served as the principal adviser on Reserve matters to the Air Force Chief of Staff. As commander of AFRES, he had full responsibility for the supervision of U.S. Air Force Reserve units around the world. He served in this position from November 1994 to June 1998.
McIntosh was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio.[1] He entered the Air Force in 1966 as a graduate of the Ohio University Reserve Officer Training Corps program, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He has commanded an Air Force Reserve wing, two Reserve numbered air forces and served as vice commander of the Air Force Reserve. He separated from active duty in August 1971 to join the air reserve technician program as a full-time civil service employee with active participation as an Air Force reservist. He is a command pilot with more than 4,000 flying hours in the A-10, A-37, F-4 and C-130. He was promoted to major general on August 3, 1991, and retired on December 9, 2002.
