In August, 1964, a morning section exclusively for women began within the same space. The college's name was changed to Rishi Bankim Chandra College for Women starting on 13th July 1984. The college established its own unique position by operating autonomously and was recognised under the University Grant Commission's 2f and 12b acts in 1998. Rishi Bankim Chandra College for Women received accreditation from NAAC in August 2004 during the first cycle, and in November 2016 during the second cycle. In addition to providing Honours/General courses in the B.A. & B.Sc. stream, the college has introduced new programs in Journalism and Physiology, which are focused on careers.
