Rautela (Devanagari:रौतेला) is a Rajput clan found in both Kumaon and Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand.[2]

History

Rautela's are Rajputs. They are the descendants of the Chands. Among the Chands the title of the eldest son was Gusain. He had the right to the kingdom. The younger sons were called Rautela[3] .Chand's are also referred to as (६ पल्ल्या रजबार). A Rajbar who wears a "Janev" made of 6 threads (Maximum allowed for a Hindu).
