Ram Baboo is an Indian track athlete. He won a bronze medal in the team 35 km race walk event at the 2022 Asian Games.[1] [2]
Baboo was born in Bahuara village, Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. His achievement received widespread coverage as he was working as a daily wage labourer and a waiter at a hotel even as he was training for athletics. He did his schooling from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya[3] and did 6 months training at Major Dhyanchand Sports College, Saifai and then moved to Bhopal for his training.[4]
Baboo established a new national record in the Men's 35 km race walk event at the 2022 National Games in India.[5]
He qualified for 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.[6] But he missed out on the final berth as each country is allowed only three berths and he finished as the fourth athlete to pass the Olympic standard.[7]
