Rafael Jódar (born 17 September 2006) is a Spanish tennis player. He has a career high singles ranking of No. 865 achieved on 23 September 2024. He won the boys' singles title at the 2024 US Open.[1]
He won an U18 grass tournament in Roehampton in June 2024 prior to a run in the juniors at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships that saw him became the last surviving Spaniard in the competition and included a convincing straight sets victory over Tomasz Berkieta for the loss of only three games.[2] He lost in the quarter finals of the singles to Japanese player Naoya Honda.[3] He also reached the quarter finals of the boys doubles playing alongside compatriot Andreas Santamaria Roig before they lost to Czech pair Jan Kumstat and Jan Klimas.
He reached the final of the boys' singles at the 2024 US Open with a victory over second seed Kaylan Bigun in the quarter final and third seed Rei Sakamoto in the semi final.[4] [5] In the final he played Nicolai Budkov Kjaer of Norway, winning the match on a third set match tiebreak.[6] [7]
Jódar is from Madrid,[8] He signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Virginia from 2024.[9]
