Rätsel
Language:German
English Title:Riddle
Genre:Folk
Published:not later than 1806

"Rätsel" (German: Rätsel,  Riddle) is a German riddle-song from the songster "Des Knaben Wunderhorn".

Brentano's version is written in iambic tetrameter.[1] According to a contemporary author, Schiller's Turandot or the moonbow from William Tell might inspire Clemens Brentano, while he was working at his adaptation.[2]

The song may be found in the later songbooks and anthologies ("Mythological library", Schwetschke's "Nature", etc.).[3] [4]
