List of protected areas of Bangladesh explained

This is a list of protected areas of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a country in South Asia. It is the eighth-most populous country in the world, with a population exceeding 163 million people in an area of either 148460km2 or 147570km2,[1] [2] making it one of the most densely populated countries in the world.

Bangladesh protected areas

As of 2024, the World Database of Protected Areas lists 56 protected areas in Bangladesh, including:[3]

The 1990 edition of the IUCN Directory of South Asian Protected Areas says the Forest Department also established a center for the protection of waterfowl at Hail Haor Wildlife Sanctuary.[4]
