Praveen Kumar Singh (born 1 October 1975) is an Indian politician and agriculturist from Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. He was the Block pramukh from Machhrehta Block of Misrikh tehsil, Sitapur. In the 2011 election, he won on a SP ticket defeating his nearest rival by a huge margin of votes even after the rival was backed up by many strong MLAs and MPs support. He contested for complete term of 5 years as the block head from Samajwadi Party. March 2024, thousands of supporters encouraged Praveen Singh to join Bharatiya Janata Party and support Ashok Rawat for the LokSabha 2024 elections. Biography

Praveen was born on 1 October 1975 in Anogi village of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. Born to Kshatriya family, father Shri Abhay Kumar Singh and mother Smt. Shanti Singh. Praveen's father Abhay Kumar Singh has been a highly respected figure in the town.

Praveen Singh received his primary education from and intermediate school in Sitapur. Later he received a bachelor's degree in law from Lucknow University. Praveen is fond of shooting, and has been a part of many shooting events across Uttar Pradesh.

Praveen Singh was married to Kammo Singh on 29 April, 2008. They have two sons.

Praveen was the first member of his family who entered the political field for the first time with no political background and support. [4]

Political Career

Praveen Singh, who had been associated with the Samajwadi Party for a considerable time, previously made a significant impact in the Machrehta Block Pramukh elections by winning 64 out of 76 votes, delivering a resounding defeat to his opposition. This victory occurred during the Bahujan Samaj Party's government in Uttar Pradesh, when Rampal Rajvanshi of the Samajwadi Party represented the Misrikh constituency in the state assembly. [5]

On 19th March 2024, Praveen Singh, the former Block Pramukh of Machrehta, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During a public outreach event in the village of Anogi, BJP Member of Parliament Ashok Rawat welcomed Praveen Singh and thousands of his supporters into the party by presenting them with the BJP scarf.

After a few weeks, accompanied by a convoy of cars with hundreds of supporters. Praveen made a grand entrance at the Sitapur BJP office, where he was officially welcomed into the party by Sitapur District President Rajesh Shukla. This significant event highlighted Praveen Singh's influence and the strong support he brings to the party, setting a positive tone for future political dynamics in the region.

Coming from the Kshatriya community, Praveen Singh held considerable influence among the Thakur community in the region, making his shift to the BJP a significant development in local politics. His support was instrumental in ensuring Ashok Rawat’s victory with a substantial margin in the 2024 elections, further solidifying BJP's position in the region. Ashok later emerged victorious for the second consecutive time in the 2024 elections, securing an impressive 5,50,000 votes. [6]
