Porattu Nadakam is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language Satire (Film) presented by director Siddique, directed by Noushad Saffron and produced by Emirates Productions under the backing of Vijayan Pallikara.[1] The film stars and ensemble cast of Saiju Kurup, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Ramesh Pisharody, Arjun Vijay ,Rahul Madhav, Nirmal Palazhi, Sooraj Thelakkadu and Shukoor Vakeel. Porattu Nadakam is scripted by Suneesh Varanad, who earlier penned the film Mohanlal, and Jayasurya's Eesho.[2] The cinematography is handled by Noushad Shereef(Oru Kuprasidha Payyan) and the film score and songs are composed by Rahul Raj.The story revolves around the events of 21 days in a fictional village called Gopalapura in northern Kerala through satire.[3] The film was announced in January 2023 with principal photography beginning in March 2023.
The film along with its title was announced on 26 January 2021.Touted to be a comedy,the film marks the first collaboration between director Noushad Saffron and Rahul Raj.
Director Siddique and Suneesh Varanad had discussed doing this in Hindi,Where the politics of the story would have worked better, But then director Siddique told it would work if it is set in North Kerala border.. (Suneesh Varanad).
The controversy surrounding Porattu Nadakam involves actor Saiju Kurup and allegations of copyright infringement by Akhil Dev and Viviyn Radhakrishnan. Initially barred from release, the court later allowed its theatrical screening after the defendants provided monetary security. However, in October 2024, the Additional District Court restricted the sale or transfer of the film's rights to third parties, including OTT platforms and TV channels, until the lawsuit is resolved. The order ensures the film’s intellectual property remains with LSD Productions., represented by Akhil Dev, permitting only theatrical release.[4] However, much to Akhil Dev's dismay the movie is now available in Amazon Prime India.
Saiju Kurup will be playing the lead role. This is the debut movie of Director Noushad Saffron,who was the associate director of Siddique.The film was formally launched in Kanhangad on 9 March 2023.Rahul Raj is composing the music while Noushad Shereef is the cinematographer.
The movie was shot in Kasaragod by Noushad Saffron under the supervision of Director Siddique. On March 5, The Audition was held at Kanhangad, The cast was finalised by Siddique on 5 March.
The film's shoot began on 9 March 2023 in Kanhangad,Kerala.The film was completed in a single Schedule. 90% of the film was completed on April 11, However the remaining portion of the film was completed on September.
The teaser of the film was released on 2 October Gandhi Jayanthi day.The teaser was shared on several social medias.
