The Greek census (1920) recorded 585 people in the village and in 1923 there were 250 inhabitants (or 20 families) who were Muslim. Following the Greek–Turkish population exchange, in Litsista there were 26 refugee families from Asia Minor and 5 refugee families from an unidentified location in 1926. The Greek census (1928) recorded 585 village inhabitants. In 1928 there were 31 refugee families (140 people).[2]
In 1945, Greek Foreign Minister Ioannis Politis ordered the compilation of demographic data regarding the Prefecture of Kastoria.[3] The village Polykarpi had a total of 740 inhabitants, and was populated by 370 Slavophones with a Bulgarian national consciousness.[4]
