Podmelec (in Slovenian pronounced as /pɔdˈmeːləts/) is a village west of Kneža in the Bača Valley in the Municipality of Tolmin in the Littoral region of Slovenia.[2]
Podmelec stands on a slope above the right bank of the Bača River. Sopota Falls (Slovenian: slap Sopota) is located about 500m (1,600feet) northwest of the village center on Sopota Creek, a tributary of the Bača River.
The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the Koper Diocese.[3]
