Plesionida Explained
Plesionida is a genus of squat lobsters in the family Munididae., it contains the following species:
- Plesionida aliena (Macpherson, 1996) — New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga, 445m-545mm (1,460feet-1,788feetm).
- Plesionida aurelia — Northwestern Australia, 393m–451mm (1,289feet–1,480feetm).
- Plesionida concava — Solomon Islands, 399m–427mm (1,309feet–1,401feetm).
- Plesionida psila Baba & de Saint Laurent, 1996 — New Caledonia, 590m–613mm (1,940feet–2,011feetm).
The generic name is a combination of the Greek plesios, meaning "near" and the final syllables of Munida. Its gender is feminine.
