Persian Gulf University (also known as PGU; Persian: {{nastaliq|دانشگاه خلیج فارس) is a public university located in the capital city of Bushehr, Bushehr province, Iran, originally established as Bushehr University in 1991. PGU is the first and the largest public university founded in the Bushehr province, Iran.[3] The Iranian government partially finances research efforts. Furthermore, various business organizations have offered support and funding to Persian Gulf University to help implement necessary initiatives and programs. PGU has established partnerships with several international universities for research and educational collaboration.
Persian Gulf University (PGU) is located in the coastal city of Bushehr. It is a public university accredited by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. It began as a "Technical & Engineering College" with two majors in mechanical and civil engineering when Bushehr University was founded in 1991 and is considered prestigious in Iran's southern region.
PGU consists of eight faculties that offer undergraduate courses leading to bachelor's degrees (B.A. or B.Sc.) in 29 disciplines, postgraduate courses leading to master's degrees (M.A. or M.Sc.) in 54 subjects, and doctoral courses leading to PhD degrees in 12 subjects. The university accepts students who pass the national entrance examination administered annually by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
Over the years, PGU has grown significantly both in terms of academic offerings and research capabilities. It has expanded to include eight faculties, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. These faculties cover a wide range of disciplines including engineering, humanities, arts, architecture, business, and more. The university is particularly noted for its strengths in engineering and technology, aligning with the industrial demands of the southern region of Iran.
The university has constructed new dormitories, including accommodations for graduate students and females, located near the campus.
To ensure the satisfaction of its students, the university advises prospective students to seek feedback from current students and university authorities regarding the facilities and accommodations. This input can assist individuals in making informed decisions.
In addition to its facilities, the university hosts the Science and Technology Park and the Morvarid (Pearl) Technology Complex, which serve as centers for research and development. These facilities offer students opportunities to engage in various projects. The APA Cyber Security Center is also present, providing comprehensive training in this field.
The university supports innovation and entrepreneurship through its startup accelerator program, providing resources and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The university offers a variety of facilities and programs designed to support student needs. These include multiple coffee shops located both within and outside the faculties, as well as a spacious dining hall. These spaces provide students with opportunities for relaxation and socialization.
