Perrona Explained
Perrona is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Clavatulidae.[1]
Description
In this genus the spire is carinated or smooth. The whorls are not tubercular or spinose. The anal sinus can be found more or less near the suture.[2]
The smooth shell is fusiform. The spire is short with few whorls. The aperture is narrow. The siphonal canal is long. The outer lip shows a wide shallow sinus near the middle. The inner lip has a thick callosity at the hind part near the suture.
The species of Perrona are smooth and solid shells with a notch in the middle of the outer lip. The hind part of the body whorl is gibbous, and the columella, as in that genus, is callous posteriorly.[3]
