Perijá brushfinch explained

The Perijá brushfinch (Arremon perijanus) is a species of bird in the family Emberizidae.

It lives in the undergrowth of humid forest, especially near edges, at altitudes of 300mto1200mm (1,000feetto3,900feetm) in the Serranía del Perijá between north-east Colombia and north-west Venezuela.[1] [2]

Taxonomy

The Perijá brushfinch was often treated as a subspecies of the stripe-headed brushfinch (A. torquatus), but was determined a distinct species, on the basis of differences in vocalization, plumage, and genetics.[3] The SACC split the group in 2010.
