"Pelados em Santos" (Portuguese for "Naked in Santos") is a song written by Alecsander Alves (best known by the nickname Dinho), and performed by the Brazilian comedy rock band Mamonas Assassinas. The song was released in 1995, in their only album Mamonas Assassinas. The song enjoyed fame in Brazil and other countries in Latin America. It was a EMI release.
The band Mamonas Assasinas was originally founded by the Band Members Bento Hinota and its brothers sérgio and Samuel Reoli with the name of Utopia, the band members Dinho and Júlio Rasec later join the band, originally, the band had the repertoire of serious songs and covers of famous artist at the time like Titãs.[1] the song that become "Pelados em Santos" originally was written in 1991, at least one verse was written, the next year, during a Praia Grande trip, the vocalist of the band picked up a guitar and began to sing a excerpt of this song, after he asked to his friends what will be the most corny car every to add more lyric to this song, the answer was a yellow Brasília with a gaucho wheel.[2]
In 1992, Utopia contract a Brazilian producer Rick Bonadio, the owner of a studio where recorded with new or upcoming artists, to produce an self title debut album, With an circulation of 1 million copies, it was an big commercial failure, only selling at least more than 100 copies, after that, Dinho continues making small work on the studio, until to that day, that a sertanego duo didn't arrive to the studio, leaving a free time, but the Vocalist asked to pass the night recording some novelty songs, among these, there was a song called "Mina (Minha Pitchulinha)", that was more slow and the vocals was more corny similarly to the singer Regidaldo Rossi, the lyrics was only completely during the recording.[1] [3] The producers Bonadio and Rodrigo Castanho found this song very funny and with the potential of success, they asked to make the lyrics with a more rock sound, so the group changed ther style to be more comically and changed ther band name to Mamonas Assasinas, the new reworked band re-record the song "Mina (Minha Pitchulinha)" to be more heavy sounding and change the name of the song to Pelados em Santos, another two songs was also recorded, Robocop Gay and Vira-Vira and it was placed to a demo tape to the big labels at the time, one of which EMI agreed to hire the group.[4]
With the relation to the instrumental part, This song it's very similar to a famous composition of Elton john (one of the inspiration of this band) titled Crocodile Rock.[5]

The Brazilian rock group Titãs covered this song in 1999, in their cover album As Dez Mais.
The music video of the song shows each member of the band offering a wide range of fictional products of the brand "Titãs" (like banks, whiskeys, food, etc.) in a Bombril commercials-like studio (actually, the PV was introduced by the same man that made the Bombril TV commercials), with alternate shots of naked women holding the As Dez Mais CD.[6] [7] The video features performances by, Bárbara Paz and Cheila Ferlin.[8]
In the middle of the video, a brand of giant cigarettes ("Titãs lights") is introduced by the Bombril man, and a warning on the upper left edge says: "Os Titãs advertem: O Ministério faz mal à sua saúde" (Titãs warn: the Ministry is unhealthy for you), a parody of the similar warning placed in all cigarettes' packs in Brazil, as well on cigarette advertisings in television: "O Ministério da Saúde adverte: fumar é prejudicial à saúde" (The Ministry of Health warns: smoking is unhealthy)".
Other shots include Tony Bellotto pretending sex with a sex doll, some band members hugged with the naked women and the final shot of the clip, with all the band members and the Bombril man singing the song.
According to the band, the idea of inviting Washington Olivetto was "to play with our fame of being a commercial band. We thought of singing as if we were doing a commercial for the song, which is the reason for a music video exist".[6]
