Peet Memorial Training College is located at Mavelikara, in the district of Alappuzha in Kerala, India . The college is a Private aided minority educational institution managed by Madhya Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI), affiliated with the University of Kerala, and recognized by the University Grants Commission and the National Council for Teacher Education. The Peet Memorial Training College was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with an A grade.
Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, was founded in 1960 in memory of the Rev. Joseph Peet, who was one of the missionaries sent by the Church Mission Society to South India. He came to Mavelikara in 1836. He was mainly instrumental in popularising education in the area. The college is governed by a council, constituted by the Diocese of Madhya Kerala of the Church of South India.
The college is governed by a management board under the chairmanship of Rt. Rev. Malayil Sabu Cherian, Bishop of Madhya Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India. There will be a Governing body consisting of the Bishop of CSI Madhya Kerala diocese as the ex-officio chairman and manager and the principal as the ex-officio secretary.
The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala, accredited by NAAC, recognised by the NCTE and offers a two-year teacher training course leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in six subjects: English, Mathematics, Natural Science, Physical Science, Social Studies and Commerce. Master's degree in Education (M.Ed.) course was started in the college in 2006 for a one-year duration. The sanctioned strength for both B.Ed. and M.Ed. is 50 and 25, respectively. Admissions to this institution are made in three ways: Admission to merit seats through a Single window allotment process by the University of Kerala, second through Community quota among the CSI community and thirdly through management quota. The admission process was done according to the norms of the University of Kerala (referred to as the prospectus every year).
